14th November

A much quieter day in terms of the quantity of dogs compared to recent weeks but a lot had other things going on this week and the weather didn't do much to encourage people. However we still had 12 dogs which included 4 newcomers so with fewer numbers we had more time to spend on those dogs.
The new battery thankfully did the trick and we had no hiccups.
Bo, Loki, Freya and Buddy were our newcomers, Bo although a little hesitant at first chased eventually. Freya a rescue was another a little hesitant at first but after spectating eventually chased with a lot of enthusiasm and both her and her pal (Loki - who took to it brilliantly) has handslips through the traps. Buddy got it first time of asking and grabbed the lure at the pickup like he'd done it a million times before. Pepe one of our regular pups was slipped through the traps to halfway and went great as was Keith's Jack (Almost Bobs x Adi Lin) he's a star in the making. Jess and Zuma both ran together, Jess receiving a start took advantage but Zuma really getting to grips with the traps now and really motoring towards the line, a great race with hardly anything separating the pair over the line. Lucy enjoyed her solo. Casper had a couple of trials setting up Piper, passing halfway and going away for a comfortable win. Jasper (his 2nd visit) had his first trial in company against Jess, still green but ran with enthusiasm, Jess is perfect for training these youngsters as she's so honest and totally lure focused, worth her weight in gold!
Everyone was covered in mud again, dogs and owners but all appeared to go home happy again.
Thanks as always for our gang of trusty volunteers, all getting stuck in with feeding and watering everyone and all aspects of setting up, organising and packing away.

Wet One

I have absolutely no recollection of who ran with who today after the first round, I gave up on the list that was caked in mud and wet through. Today was a bit of a nightmare and we want to apologise and also say a massive thankyou to everyone for hanging about whilst we had lure problems again, two lures - no joy and Alans handlure broke halfway through. Resorted to the battery off the van to get us through. Anyway, new battery bought (£220 thanks to everyone who has paid membership, entry fees, raffle and refreshments) and hopefully no further problems next week. Keen (or mad?) bunch of owners we have.
19 dogs today. Kathryn & Ross joined us again with Nimbus, Strider, Dee, Griffin, Spiro and little lurcher wannabe Wombat, Sian's Apatchee had a couple of runs, and mastered the traps first time of asking. Alfie had a race with Casper and Jess, unfortunately he got hampered at the end and came off hobbling, hope my boy is ok Carol, Zuma had a good couple of races and is coming on brilliant, so calm in the traps and coming out quicker every time, his mate Lucy also had her first race. Snip & Piper had a couple of races together, first time trapping for Piper, another with no issues. Mick gave his Bedlington / Whippet his first go behind the lure and he chased as if he'd been doing it all his life. Sandra's Tillie & Indy both had a couple of good races and little Ollie enjoyed his handslips
Thanks as always to all the helpers and everyone offering help setting up & packing away.
